Sheffield Lake's Community Civic Council is sponsoring five days of family fun when it kicks off the 60-plus-year-old Community Days on July 10.
Here’s a schedule breakdown:
Carnival, 6-11 pm; Wednesday to Friday, July 10-12; 4-11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 13-14, Shoreway Shopping Center, 4128 Lake Road.
Parade, 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11. Starts at Joyce E. Hanks Community Center, 4575 Lake Road, and heads west to Shoreway Shopping Center.
Fireworks, dusk, Friday, July 12. Fireworks will be staged at city boat launch, across the street from the shopping center. Launch will be closed to pedestrians and vehicles all day. Rain date: Saturday, July 13.
Poker run, Saturday, July 13, Registration/check-in, 10 a.m., Johnny K's Powersports, 3000 Midway Mall, Elyria. Meal is served. All participating bikes and cars must be out by noon. Stops include Rudy's, Trainwreck Tavern, Forts Tavern, 83 and Chestnut. Final stop is Gus' Steak and Ale, 5348 Lake Road, Sheffield Lake. Fee $20. All welcome at after party at Gus' from 5-8 p.m. If the run is rained out, everyone is still welcome to Gus'. Benefits Wags 4 Kids, a 15-year-old nonprofit organization that trains and then gifts service dogs to kids with special needs including those with cerebral palsy and autism.

Carnival rides require tickets. They can be purchased through July 10 at reduced prices at Apples at Shoreway Shopping Center.
Tickets are sold in sheets of 20 for $20. Once the carnival opens, tickets cost $1.50 each.
A one-day wristband allows you unlimited rides. Advance sale is $17/day. Once the carnival opens, cost is $20/day. Wristbands can be bought a day ahead. Buyers will be given a voucher that is exchanged at a ticket booth for that day's specific wristband. The wristband colors change daily.
Proceeds from ticket sales help Community Civic Council support school and community groups, provide Christmas baskets for local families in need and contribute to upkeep of the Community Center floor and Sheffield Lake park improvements.
