Safety Service Director Jeff Armbruster announced at last night’s City Council meeting there will be lots of activity July 3 in celebration of Independence Day, including a fireworks show at dusk.

“I believe we’re the only city in the surrounding areas that will have fireworks,” Armbruster said. “There will be functions all day at the park.”

South Central Park, located at the intersection of SR 83 and Bainbridge Road, will be the site for a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, he said, as well as a tennis tournament, the Splash Pad for water fun and six food vendor booths. Food will be sold beginning at 3 p.m. Two bands will perform at the park’s gazebo, one at 6:30 p.m. and the other at 7:30 p.m.
