Community Days, Sheffield Lake’s annual fund raising festival, begins at 6 p.m. July 14 and ends at 11 p.m. July 18. The midsummer carnival at Sheffield Lake Town Center (Lake Road at Lake Breeze Road) is sponsored by the Community Civic Council (CCC), which coordinates the efforts of local service clubs and charitable organizations, and oversees their use of the Community Center for meetings and other events. All profits raised by the member charitable groups will aid those in need in Sheffield Lake and Sheffield Village.
The Community Days Parade steps off at 7 p.m. July 15, and the annual fireworks display will begin at dark July 16 (Saturday, if Friday’s weather is inclement). Midway rides and games will be open from 6 to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The annual bike raffle (two bikes donated by Marty’s Cycle Center in Avon Lake) will take place Sunday night.
CCC is seeking donations to cover the cost of fireworks and other expenses.
On June 9, Mayor John Piskura wrote:
“Former residents travel hundreds of miles to return home to participate in Community Days along with current residents … This event truly lives up to its name by bringing so many people together … we are asking for your support to continue this annual tradition. Your contribution will allow this year’s fireworks display to become a reality … The estimated cost of producing such a display is about $10,000 and any support you are able to provide will be greatly appreciated.”
Checks made payable to CCC, or to “Sheffield Lake Community Days,” may be mailed to Sheffield Lake City Hall, 609 Harris Road or to CCC, P.O. Box 2083, Sheffield Lake 44054.
CCC members will have discounted ride tickets available (20 tickets for $10 or all-day ride bracelets for $12 each) near the entrance of the Apples store and at CCC’s trailer set up in the north end of the parking lot July 1 through 13.
