SHEFFIELD-SHEFFIELD LAKE: Three current Sheffield-Sheffield Lake school board members want to stay on the board for four more years.

Pat Czech and Sandra Jensen of Sheffield Lake and Amy DeLuca of Sheffield Village turned in petitions to the Lorain County Board of Elections by the Aug. 7 filing deadline. No one filed to run against them in the Nov. 5 general election.

They will retain their seats as long as their petitions are certified by the elections board. Their new terms will start Jan. 1.

DeLuca is a lawyer and lives in Sheffield Village. She was appointed assistant prosecutor for the village two years ago. Her husband, Brad, works as a secretary at Brookside Intermediate School and their two sons attend district schools. DeLuca accepted an appointment to the board to fill out a term before running successfully for the seat four years ago.

Czech will seek a second four-year term. She taught sixth grade at Brookside Middle School for 27 years before retiring four years ago. Czech has three daughters, all of whom graduated from Brookside High School.

First elected to the board in 2007, Jensen is seeking her fourth term. The lifelong Sheffield Lake resident is a Brookside High School graduate, as are her two children. She is an intake specialist with Adult Protective Services at Lorain County Job and Family Services.

Board members are not compensated for their work. The four-year terms for the other two board members end in two years.

The district serves over 1,800 students from pre-kindergarten through high school.
