Marijuana arrest

A 19-year-old Lakewood man was arrested June 22 for possession of marijuana and related drug paraphernalia after police found it in his car after it was stopped on Chester Road at 9:33 p.m. An officer initially stopped the car because a records check showed it wasn’t registered properly, police said.

Theft arrest

A 27-year-old Euclid woman was arrested June 23 for theft after Walmart security said she tried taking $65 in assorted items at 7:55 p.m. before being stopped.

Under the influence

A 33-year-old Westlake man was arrested June 23 for driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license and possession of marijuana after police stopped the car he was driving west on Interstate 90 at 10:48 p.m. because it was being driven erratically.

Catalytic converters taken

Staff at the Christian Heritage Assembly of God Church on Chester Road found at 1:11 p.m. June 24 someone had cut the catalytic converters off two church trucks parked in its lot.


Traffic stop

An 18-year-old Lorain man was cited June 17 for driving without a license and not having a proper exhaust system after police stopped the car he was driving on Miller Road at 11:48 p.m. for exhaust problems.

Haircut causes family dispute

Police broke up a disagreement between a 20-year-old Sandusky woman and her 53-year-old mother at the mother’s home at 8:24 a.m. June 18 The disagreement erupted when the daughter found her mother had gotten her son’s hair cut without her permission. The daughter hit her mother with a shoe, but the mother did not report injuries, police said. The younger woman got a ride from the home after getting her son and his belongings.

Traffic stop prompts arrest

A 22-year-old Lorain man was arrested at 4:30 p.m. June 19 on Lake Road after a records check showed he was wanted by Avon police on a warrant for receiving stolen property.

Car fire stopped

Firefighters and police put out a car fire on Webber Road June 19 after getting a call at 5:36 p.m. The driver and passenger got out of the car without injury. The car was towed. No cause for the fire was available.

Key fob found

A man found a key fob in the parking lot of Erieview school at 2:20 p.m.June 20 and turned it over to police.

Not very neighborly

A Harvey Parkway man told police a neighbor sprayed him with water from a hose during an argument about flooding in their yards at 6 p.m. June 20.


Man, teen girl arrested

A 20-year-old Bay Village man was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and a 16-year-old Bay Village girl he was with was arrested for a curfew violation after a patrol officer found them walking on Clague Parkway at 1:32 a.m. June 20. A check with girl’s parents found she had lied to them about where she was that night,

Can’t buy for minors

A 21-year-old Bay Village woman and an 18-year-old Bay Village man were cited for alcohol offenses after Village Food Mart workers said the woman bought alcohol for the teen at 5:33 p.m. June 21 and put it in his car.

Drug, theft arrests

A Cleveland man, 38, and a Cleveland woman, 36, were arrested June 22 for drug offenses after police stopped the car the man was driving on Aberdeen Road at 12:40 a.m. for an equipment violation. Drug-related items were in plain sight in the car and police said additional charges are possible because several gift cards that police suspect were stolen were found in the car.


Theft arrest

A 44-year-old Cleveland man was arrested June 17 for theft after Kohl’s security said he wore an Adidas jacket out of the business at 3:39 p.m. without paying for it. Police said they found him near the Chick-fil-A on Center Ridge Road with a backpack that had the jacket’s ripped-off tags in it. Police found the backpack was from Five Below, but store workers there declined to prosecute him.

Under-the-influence arrest

A 51-year-old Fairview Park woman was arrested at 2:20 a.m. June 19 after police checked on a car swerving on Robinhood Avenue and the driver failed field sobriety tests.

Ex-girlfriend arrested

A 32-year-old Parma woman was arrested at 3:53 a.m. June 19 for being intoxicated and disruptive after her ex-boyfriend called police complaining she was at his Lawn Village Apartments arguing about her overtures to other men and wouldn’t leave, police said. She was held at the police station until sober, police said.

Found slumped over the wheel

A 23-year-old Elyria man was arrested June 24 for drunk driving after police checked a 1:34 a.m. report of a man slumped over the steering wheel of a car on the Brookpark Road bridge. After being roused, the man failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. He was belligerent, kicking and swearing until he fell asleep in his jail cell, police said.


Husband-wife dispute

Police found a Franklin Boulevard woman wasn’t letting her husband in their home June 22 after they checked an 11:22 a.m. report of a possible fight at the couple’s home. Police said it was a civil matter and that the couple needed to settle their dispute peacefully.

Callers report hearing gunshots

Police received calls at 7:20 p.m. June 22 of possible gunshots being fired five times in the Valley Parkway area. Police could not find any evidence of it.

Bad day causes incident

Police issued a warning after they checked a report of a man throwing items around the Executive House Apartments on Clifton Boulevard at 2 p.m. June 23. Police found the man was upset because he was having a bad day. They warned him to keep his bad day to himself and left him in his mother’s care.

Car keyed

A man in the 14300 block of Detroit Avenue said he found the morning of June 23 someone had keyed his car while parked there the previous few hours.

Upset mother

A Cove Avenue woman told police a woman was at her apartment at 7 p.m. June 24 threatening her because she was upset about her son, who is a friend of the younger woman, leaving home. She was warned to calm down, police said.


Deli food theft

A former Walmart worker was arrested for theft June 18 after Walmart security said the 19-year-old Fairview Park man took an assortment of food valued at $42 and ate it in the break room several times between June 7 and 18. Security said it was small amounts of deli food, with the ex-worker claiming he thought it was OK to take the food.

Clothing theft arrest

A 39-year-old Berea woman was arrested for theft at 8:12 p.m. June 19 after Target security said she tried to take an assortment of clothing valued at $220 by hiding it in her purse. The woman told police she was taking clothing because she had cancer and was struggling to pay her bills.

Drunk-driving arrest

A 27-year-old Westlake man was arrested for drunk driving June 21 after police stopped the car he was driving on Lorain Road at 1:39 a.m. Police said he hit the curb with his car before they stopped it.

Disorderly conduct at restaurant

A 45-year-old Cleveland man was arrested June 22 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after police checked a report of a drunk man in the Great Northern Shopping Center Plaza at 10:49 p.m. Workers at Famous Dave’s restaurant said he left after they wouldn’t serve him alcohol. They said he had defecated on himself and soiled a bar stool.

Driver’s call prompts arrest

A 42-year-old Holt, Michigan, woman was arrested June 21 after police checked a 4 a.m. report about a possible drunk driver on Lorain Road. The woman told police she was in town for a softball game. She was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.


Not his bill

A 28-year-old North Ridgeville man told police June 17 a collection agency contacted him about a cable bill for an account someone set up in his name sometime in the previous few weeks.

Bank deposit being checked

A district manager for the Mr. Hero on Center Ridge Road told police June 18 that an undisclosed amount of money was missing from the June 14 bank deposit made for the business. The worker who made the deposit said she put all the money in the bank.

Traffic stop leads to arrest

A 23-year-old LaGrange man was arrested June 14 for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after police stopped the car he was driving on Interstate 480 at 9 p.m. for having an expired registration.

Jewelry missing

A Tree Moss Lane woman told police June 23 three pieces of jewelry were missing from her home. She said the last time she remembered seeing the jewelry was several days earlier when a solicitor had been at her home.

Phone stolen

A 26-year-old Canton woman said someone apparently stole her phone while she was at the Lorain Road Burger King at 8:30 a.m. June 22.

Drunk-driving arrest

A 27-year-old Columbia Road man was arrested June 22 for drunk driving after police stopped the car he was driving on Root Road at 1 a.m. Police said they initially stopped the car because it was crossing different lanes.

Bicycle found

A bicycle was found at 11:18 a.m. June 17 near the Kiddie College on Center Ridge Road. A worker thought it had been there for several days.

Arrested after hiding

A 38-year-old North Ridgeville man was arrested June 20 shortly after he was seen peeking through the blinds, then hiding in an attic when police went to serve a warrant on him at 7:30 a.m. at the Rae Apartments on Center Ridge Road. The warrant was for driving on a suspended license, reckless operation and related charges. When police went to serve the warrant, the man hid in an attic, then broke through a ceiling into an unoccupied apartment, with police catching him shortly afterward. Police added burglary, inducing panic and obstructing to the original charges.


Unwanted recording

A 43-year-old Laurel Avenue woman was arrested for disorderly conduct while intoxicated June 18 shortly after police checked a 3:30 p.m. complaint from a neighbor about her video recording the neighbor. The woman smelled of alcohol, and was disheveled and falling down when police found her at her home, they said.

Accident closes part of I-90

Police are investigating a 4:45 a.m. June 20 accident that closed Interstate 90 near Detroit Road for more than three hours. A tractor-trailer went off the roadway and leaked oil, which closed several lanes of the highway until 8 a.m. No injuries were reported.

Grocery theft

A man left Giant Eagle with a cart full of groceries at 8:55 p.m. June 20 after shoving another customer who confronted him about the theft. A responding officer saw the suspect get into a white Ford pickup but was unable to stop it, police said. The suspect was described as about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, wearing a ball cap and white camouflage jacket and having a mustache. No injuries were reported.

A 20-year-old Rocky River woman was arrested June 23 for drunk driving shortly after police checked a 4:30 a.m. call of a car hitting a gas pump at the Lake Road Sunmart. The driver was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.

A 22-year-old Parma woman was arrested June 23 shortly after police checked a 3:20 p.m. report of a possible drunk driver going west on Interstate 90. She was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.


Helping friend leads to arrest

A 33-year-old Elyria man was arrested June 14 for driving on a suspended license after police stopped the truck he was driving on East River Road at 1:55 p.m. The man had gone there to help a friend with a disabled car. Both vehicles were towed, police said.

Suspended-license arrest

A 23-year-old Columbia Station man was arrested for driving on a suspended license June 12 after police said they stopped the car he was driving on East River Road when they saw it being driven erratically at 8:20 p.m.


A 32-year-old Lakewood woman was arrested for drug offenses and giving a false name to police at 9 p.m. June 22 at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Crocker Park. Dick’s security called police because they suspected the woman had used a credit car illegally to buy $1,200 in various items. When contacted, the card owner confirmed the woman was allowed to use the card. But she gave police a phony name and had a drug pipe and cocaine with her, police said.

Stolen car found

A patrol officer found a disabled white Volvo with a wheel and other parts removed and on the ground parked on Marview Drive about 5:30 a.m. June 14. A check showed the car was reported stolen from Knickerbocker Road in Bay Village sometime during the night.
