Gun, traffic arrest
A 34-year-old Painesville man was arrested at 4:12 p.m. July 30 for gun and traffic offenses. Police initially stopped the car he was driving east on Interstate 90 because its registration was expired. While checking the car, police found a .40-caliber automatic handgun.
Narcan used on man, 44
Two doses of Narcan were used to revive a 44-year-old Avon Lake man after police got a call at 7:14 p.m. July 30 about a man apparently overdosed in a car in a Nagel Road parking lot. The man was transported to the Avon Cleveland Clinic for further treatment.
Alcohol, marijuana arrest
A 35-year-old Avon man was arrested at 3 a.m. July 31 after police said they found marijuana and an open bottle of vodka after stopping a car westbound on Interstate 90 for driving erratically.
Theft arrest at Target
A 21-year-old Lorain man was arrested for theft at 2:09 p.m. July 31 for taking $96 worth of health and home products at Target.
A $105 Google Chromecast was stolen sometime during the evening of July 31 at Walmart, security said.
Man found passed out, arrested
A 38-year-old North Ridgeville man wanted on a dangerous-drugs warrant by the Lorain County Sheriff’s Department was arrested at 6:05 p.m. July 26 when he was found passed out in a car in a Walker Road parking lot.
Address changed without permission
A Sorrento Lane man said July 26 that his address was changed at the post office without permission. He is checking to see if there has been any financial loss from items being taken as a result.
Suspicious activity at Vineyard Park Beach
Police were unable to find anyone after checking reports at 10:41 p.m. July 28 of a man acting suspiciously at Vineyard Park Beach. Several hypodermic needles were found in the area, officers said.
Two women arrested on drug charges
Two Avon Lake women, ages 19 and 20, were arrested at 10:41 p.m. July 28 for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia after police stopped a car being driven erratically on Lake Road.
Jogging stroller found
A jogging stroller found at the Lake House on Lake Road at 10:41 p.m. July 29 was turned over to police.
Driver cited for suspended license
A 23-year-old Avon Lake man was cited July 31 for driving on a suspended license and not having working lights after police stopped the car he was driving on Lear Road at 12:05 a.m. for lights not working.
Driver cited for stop violation
A 38-year-old Sheffield Lake woman was cited July 31 for driving on a suspended license and failing to stop for a stop bar after police said she went through the stop area on Lake Road at 6:15 p.m.
A 64-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested for drunk driving July 31 after police initially stopped the car he was driving on Avon Belden Road at 11:10 p.m. for not staying in marked lanes.
Saw found in road
A handheld reciprocating saw was found at 12:17 a.m. Aug. 4 near Avon Belden and Lake roads.
Intoxicated granddaughter arrested
A 28-year-old Bay Village woman was arrested July 30 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated shortly after a Westlawn Drive woman called saying her granddaughter was intoxicated and had thrown a chair in the house. Police said the younger woman could only speak unintelligibly and had to be carried to the police car because she couldn’t walk to it.
A pressure tester was stolen from a building site on Red Oak Court sometime between July 26 and Aug. 2. The home’s garage door was left open July 26 because birds were getting trapped inside. Contractors discovered the theft when they returned to the site Aug. 2.

A man found in the park after closing hours June 25 was found to be wanted by Cleveland police and turned over to that department.
Man, woman arrested for public indecency
A man and woman found in the park after hours June 26 were arrested for public indecency, possession of liquor and marijuana and being in the park after hours.
After-hours drug arrest
A woman arrested in the park after hours for possession of marijuana July 26 was found to be wanted by the Summit County Sheriff’s Department on a felony warrant and turned over to that department.
Food order leads to assault arrest
One man was arrested for assault and another man was treated by Cleveland EMS workers June 28 after the two got into a dispute over a food order at the Edgewater Beach House.

Driver, passengers cited
A driver was cited for possession of marijuana and he and his three passengers, one male and two female, were cited June 15 for being in the park after hours after police stopped the car he was driving into the Willow Bend parking area.
Purses stolen from cars
Three women said their purses were stolen from their cars after car windows were broken out June 16 while they were parked at the Emerald Necklace Marina.
Unoccupied car found
Police found an unoccupied car June 18 on the Valley Parkway, just south of the Wooster Road area, that had hit a guardrail June 18. No driver was found.
Man caught after Kohl’s theft
A 38-year-old Fairview Park man was arrested July 29 for theft after Kohl’s security said he took an Adidas athletic bag at 3:58 p.m. and fled. He was found a short distance away near other Westgate businesses.
Gift card scam
A Fairview Park woman said Aug. 1 she was scammed by someone claiming to be a friend and needing $300 in iTunes gift cards. She sent the cards, but realized she’d been scammed when she got another email saying the friend needed additional money.
Drunk, disorderly at Bohlken Park
A 55-year-old Fairview Park woman was arrested at 8:34 a.m. Aug. 2 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after police checked a report of a woman staggering along a trail near Bohlken Park. The woman was staying with a friend near the park, with the friend saying he didn’t want her there while she was drunk. Police held her until she was sober.
Break-in, theft at Nationwide
Employees discovered several hundred dollars and an in-dash media receiver were stolen overnight from the Nationwide Car Center when they arrived at work the morning of Aug. 3.
Credit cars taken from car
A Bayes Avenue woman found the morning of Aug. 2 that several credit cards were stolen from her car while parked at her home overnight.
iPhone, credit cards taken
An iPhone 7, credit cards and a driver’s license were taken from a woman’s belongings while she was at Source Energy Yoga Studio on Madison Avenue the afternoon of Aug. 2.
Cash taken from car
A person reported that $675 in cash was taken from a car parked in the 11700 block of Detroit Avenue overnight Aug. 3.
Money stolen from home
About $1,300 in cash was stolen from a home in the 2200 block of Elbur Avenue sometime overnight Aug. 3.
Car’s window, tail light damaged
A car parked in the 18200 block of Detroit Avenue had its front window and a rear tail light broken sometime overnight Aug. 4.
A 37-year-old Broadview Heights woman was treated for injuries after police checked a 6:05 p.m. Aug. 4 report of an assault in the 12000 block of Lake Avenue.
A Lakewood Avenue woman reported the theft of several bottles of pills overnight Aug. 5.
TVs, Xbox taken
A Marlowe Avenue resident said someone took several TVs and an Xbox gaming system from the home during a move Aug. 4.
A 62-year-old Cleveland man was arrested July 30 for trespassing shortly after police checked a 7:57 p.m. report of a man not allowed on Great Northern Mall property. Mall security said he is banned from the mall because of prior incidents and tried to evade them.
Suspended-license driver arrested
A 31-year-old Cleveland man was arrested July 31 for driving on a suspended license after police stopped the car he was driving on Lorain Road because a license check showed the registered owner was wanted by Parma police. The driver wasn’t the registered owner, but a check of his license showed it was suspended.
Drug, theft arrest
A 38-year-old Lorain woman was arrested Aug. 3 for cocaine possession and theft after Walmart security said she took an art kit. Police said when they asked if she had anything they should know about, the woman said she had cocaine in a small metal container in her purse.
A Lear Nagle Road man said July 26 someone stole a bank check and tried to forge it.
Police arrested a 17-year-old from North Ridgeville July 25 after investigating a report that a car was keyed in the high school parking lot.
Sliding door damaged
A Miller Road man said July 25 someone damaged the sliding glass door at his home during the previous few days. Nothing was reported missing.
Police checking a 6:30 p.m. July 30 report of a fight at a Wooster Road apartment found family members had gotten into an argument over dividing up some property. One woman said she was assaulted by another family member, but no injuries were reported.
A 52-year-old Rocky River woman was arrested for drunk driving July 31 after police initially stopped the car she was driving at 10:05 p.m. because she turned into the Hilliard Boulevard municipal lot without yielding to oncoming traffic. Police said she told them she had a bottle of wine or two. She was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.
Fall leads to arrest
A 22-year-old Strongsville woman was arrested at 3:15 a.m. Aug. 3 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after an officer saw a woman walking unsteadily in the 21300 block of Hilliard Boulevard. As the officer approached, the woman seemed to turn toward a house, but fell. After checking for injuries, police found the woman was apparently intoxicated.
A 31-year-old Lakewood man was arrested July 29 for drunk driving after police checked a car being driven recklessly on Interstate 90 about 5:10 a.m. Police stopped the car after seeing it weaving over lanes. The driver was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.
Cash deposit stolen
Workers at the Detroit Road Arby’s said $1,300 was missing from a night deposit bag when it was checked while being taken for a deposit. Workers said the money had been there when the bag was zipped up.
Wallet stolen, card used
A Fitch Drive woman said her wallet was stolen out of her car overnight July 30 while parked in her drive and a credit card in it was used to make several hundred dollars in purchases at different stores before the theft was discovered.
Debit card used illegally
A Crocker Park shopper told police at 6:30 p.m. July 10 that she lost her debit card around the Chipotle restaurant earlier that day. She discovered that the card had been used at Shoppers World and Family Dollar Store in Cleveland. Westlake police got surveillance pictures of two suspects and are looking to identify them.
Woman checked at hospital
A 93-year-old East Cleveland woman was treated at St. John Medical Center in Westlake at 5 p.m. Aug. 2 after police checked a report of a disoriented woman sitting alone in a car at the Lakewood Country Club in 80-degree heat. The woman’s daughter, who was at a nearby estate sale, was contacted. The city prosecutor is reviewing the case for possible charges.
Gun charge against two people
A 28-year-old Westlake man and 31-year-old Westlake woman were arrested Aug. 2 for gun offenses after police initially stopped the car the man was driving on Crocker Road at 8 p.m. for a license plate violation, officers said. When questioned, the passenger said she had a loaded handgun in the car, but didn’t initially tell officers because she was using “Facetime” on her phone.
A 35-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested Aug. 7 for possession of drugs after police saw him walking around in an odd manner while they were checking a 10 a.m. call at the Super 8 on Sperry Drive.
Air conditioners stolen
Workers said Aug. 8 that two air conditioners valued at $5,000 were taken from the Brookdale Westlake Village loading dock. The theft was discovered at 10:30 a.m.
A 35-year-old Cleveland man and a 33-year-old Lakewood woman were arrested for drug offenses at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 8 at the Super 8 on Sperry Drive. The man was wanted for drug offenses by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department, with Westlake adding charges after finding him with marijuana, officers said.
Accident victim treated
A 35-year-old North Olmsted man was taken to St. John Medical Center in Westlake at 8:32 p.m. Aug. 8 after police checked a motorcycle accident on Lansing Drive. Police are still investigating, but officers said alcohol was not a factor.
