Workers at Level Two games on Detroit Road said someone took $534 in Magic the Gathering trading cards sometime during the day June 4.

Speeding and drug, alcohol arrests

A 47-year-old Euclid man was arrested June 8 for drug and alcohol offenses after police initially stopped the car he was riding in on Colorado Avenue near the McDonald’s at 1:21 a.m. for speeding. Police found the passenger had marijuana and an open container of alcohol, while the driver was cited for doing 50 mph in a 35 mph zone, police said.

Food theft

A 55-year-old Cleveland man was arrested June 8 for attempting to take assorted food items from Walmart at 1:48 a.m., security said.

AVON LAKE

Portable speaker found

Police recovered a portable speaker system at 7:32 p.m. June 4 near the intersection of Sunset and Division roads after they were told about it being there.

Identity fraud

A 35-year-old Avon Lake man told police June 4 someone got access to his cell phone account and also withdrew about $4,000 from his bank account during the previous few days.

Grandfather scammed out of $8,500

An 81-year-old Avon Lake man fell for a phone scam June 5 and wired $8,500 after a woman claiming to be his granddaughter called and said she needed the money to get out of jail. A man who said he was her attorney got on the phone and gave him an account to wire the money to, which he did. He did not realize it was a scam until afterward, police said.

Disorderly conduct at closing time

A 45-year-old woman was cited June 7 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated for refusing to leave the Lear Road Inn when it was closing shortly before 2 a.m., police said.

Cited for suspended license

A 26-year-old Columbia Station man was cited June 7 for driving on a suspended license after police initially stopped the car he was driving on Lake Road at 5 p.m. for illegally passing another car, they said.

Aggressive dog

An Avon Lake man reported June 7 that while he was running on Monaco Place a dog charged at him at 5:35 p.m. before it apparently was stopped by an electric fence or collar, police said.

BAY VILLAGE

Traffic stop prompts arrest

A 20-year-old Strongsville man was arrested June 4 for drug, gun and traffic violations shortly after police stopped the car he was driving on Dover Center Road at 2:07 a.m. After the stop, police said they found the driver had a suspended license, cited him for that and released him. As he walked to a relative’s nearby home, police checked the car and found several drugs as well as a loaded handgun, prompting police to arrest him.

Tools taken

About $500 in tools were reported taken from an unlocked work van parked in the 26000 block of Knickerbocker Road. The theft occurred some time between the evening of June 3 and 8:36 a.m. June 4, when the theft was discovered.

Two arrested for alcohol offenses

A 31-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested June 6 for drunk driving shortly after an off-duty officer called police at 9:32 p.m. about a possible drunk driver heading onto Dover Center Road. A 21-year-old woman passenger was arrested for having an open container of alcohol in the car.

FAIRVIEW PARK

Unauthorized withdrawal

A Lorain Road woman said June 3 someone used her debit card information and took $1,400 from her account sometime during the previous few days. She told police a possible suspect could be a mover she found on Craigslist. She said he had taken some money from her purse, but admitted it and returned it. She later found the money missing from her account.

Speeding leads to drunk-driving arrest

A 64-year-old Fairview Park man was arrested June 6 for drunk driving and reckless operation after a customer at Red Robin called police at 7:08 p.m. saying a man had sped out of a parking spot and hit another car in the lot. The caller said he had seen the man slumped over the steering wheel of his car and went to check on him. The driver awoke, then drove off and hit the other car, prompting the caller to grab the driver’s car keys and call police, officers said.

Menacing arrest

A 20-year-old Brook Park man was arrested June 7 for aggravated menacing after police checked a 4 p.m. phone call about a man tearing up a house on West 222nd Street. The caller said the man was her daughter’s boyfriend and had become upset after arguing with the mother. He had slammed a container of dog food down, scattering it, then threatened her, prompting the call to police.

Man injured in fall

A 21-year-old Missouri man was treated June 8 at Fairview Hospital in Cleveland for broken facial bones and bruises after falling over the edge of the 200 West Apartments on Lorain Road at 10:43 p.m. The man’s father drove him to his apartment building after a wedding, then waited while his son went to urinate over the edge of the parking garage, police said. The father was waiting, and when he heard a thud, he checked and found his apparently intoxicated son had fallen, prompting a call to paramedics, police said.

Man checked at hospital

A 50-year-old Fairview man was checked at Fairview Hospital June 9 after police found the Lorain Road bridge at 2:44 a.m. Officers were checking a report of a car stopped on the bridge when they said found a highly agitated man in the car. One officer saw the man with a box cutter and grabbed the hand holding the box cutter, while alerting the other officer. When the blade started to come out of the box cutter, the officer let go. The man in the car began to yell for the officers to shoot him, police said. The second officer tased him as the man struggled and repeatedly yelled that he wanted the police to let him jump from the bridge, police said. Officers got him out of the car, onto the ground and paramedics took him to the hospital, police said.

LAKEWOOD

Drunk-driving arrest

A 54-year-old Lyndhurst man was arrested June 8 for drunk driving after police stopped the car he was driving on Riverside Drive for being driven erratically.

Items taken in burglary

A Lakewood Avenue woman reported that $200 in cash, some sterling silver tableware and keys were taken in an overnight burglary on June 8, police said.

Assault reported

A Wyandotte Avenue woman told police June 9 that her ex-boyfriend had assaulted her at 8 a.m. No major injuries were reported.

Cash taken

An Edgewater Drive man said someone broke out a window in his car while it was parked in a garage and took money he had left in the car.

Bicycle stolen

A Belle Avenue man said June 10 sometime overnight someone stole a bicycle parked at his home.

Citizens Bank robbed

Police are looking for a man who robbed the Citizens Bank at 12222 Madison Ave. on June 12. The man, who did not show a weapon, gave the teller a note at 11:37 a.m. demanding money. He was given an undisclosed amount of money and he left. He was last seen walking north on Ridgewood Avenue before crossing onto Franklin Boulevard. Police said he was an African American man in his late 20s or early 30s, wearing a light gray T-shirt, dark pants and a Sean John baseball-style hat.

NORTH OLMSTED

Kicking door, yelling prompts arrest

A 31-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested for disorderly conduct while intoxicated at 2:45 a.m. June 6 after police checked a complaint of a man trying to kick in the door at Fuzzy’s Tavern on Lorain Road. The man was told to leave because the bar was closing, then became upset and tried to get back in, workers said.

Return visit

A 61-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested June 7 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after police went to his apartment in the Williamsburg Square complex at 11:57 p.m. for the second time to stop an argument between him and his wife. Officers said they had warned him when they were there several hours earlier that a return visit would prompt his arrest.

Marijuana, speeding arrest

A 30-year-old Dearborn, Michigan, man was arrested June 6 for possession of marijuana and speeding after police said they stopped the car he was driving on Interstate 480 for doing 80 mph in a 60 mph zone. An officer said he smelled marijuana and the driver handed him a paper bag with several small bottles of marijuana in it, police said.

Theft arrest

A 33-year-old Cleveland woman was arrested June 7 for theft after Walmart security said she tried to take $241 in clothing, food and household supplies at 5:50 p.m.

Phony call

A 49-year-old Chester Township woman was arrested for making false calls, disorderly conduct while intoxicated and resisting arrest after police checked a 10 p.m. call about someone holding a gun to a woman’s head at the Extended Stay hotel on Country Club Boulevard. Police said a hotel clerk had to let them in the room, then said the woman in it refused to cooperate. A check of her phone showed the calls coming from it, police said. The woman appeared intoxicated and then refused to come with officers, instead jumping onto the bed and refusing to leave, police said. Officers removed her from the bed and arrested her, police said.

A 61-year-old North Olmsted man was arrested June 8 for drunk driving and speeding after police initially stopped the car he was driving on Lorain Road at 3:16 a.m. for going over 50 mph.

NORTH RIDGEVILLE

Two arrested for iPad theft, drugs

A 46-year-old Avon Lake man and a 27-year-old Avon Lake woman were arrested June 2 at the Ridge Motel on Center Ridge Road for the theft of an iPad from a 21-year-old North Ridgeville man at his home. Police also arrested the two for drug offenses after finding drug-related items in the hotel room.

Drunk-driving arrest

A 27-year-old Cleveland man was arrested June 8 for drunk driving after police stopped the car he was driving on Lorain Road at 12:07 a.m. Police initially stopped the car for not staying in the proper lane and having expired license plates.

Domestic violence arrest

A 30-year-old North Ridgeville man was arrested June 7 for domestic violence after police checked a 5:35 p.m. report of a fight on Olive Avenue. No major injuries were reported.

Drunk-driving arrest

A 54-year-old Elyria woman was arrested June 7 for drunk driving after police stopped the car she was driving on Abbe Road at 10 p.m. for driving erratically.

Erratic driver escapes after pursuit

A car fled from an officer attempting to stop it at 12:17 a.m. for driving erratically June 9, with the officer following it until giving up the pursuit on Interstate 90 in Avon Lake at 12:30 a.m., police said.

ROCKY RIVER

Crash leads to drunk-driving arrest

A 30-year-old Cleveland man was arrested June 4 for drunk driving after a caller told police that at 6:45 a.m. he saw a car with apparent crash damage on Detroit Road driving erratically. Officers found the car near the Interstate 90 exit on Detroit and stopped the car. The driver was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.

Hit-skip accident prompts arrest

A 26-year-old Medina man was arrested June 6 for alcohol and traffic-related offenses after police stopped his car on Detroit Road at 11:20 p.m. Officers said the car matched one Cleveland police said was involved in a hit-skip incident earlier that night in Cleveland. The driver was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.

Arrest made in burglary

A 26-year-old Parma man was arrested June 8 after a Riverdale Drive man called police at 8:35 a.m. and said a man had gone into a neighbor’s home and a woman had come out screaming. Police said the woman was uninjured and described the fleeing culprit to officers. The suspect was arrested on Lake Road at about 9:25 a.m. with help from Westlake and Lakewood officers.

Drunk-driving arrest

A 23-year-old Cleveland man was arrested June 9 for drunk driving shortly after a patrol officer saw a car up against the guardrail on Wooster Road at 3:15 a.m. The car was still in gear and the driver passed out, police said. He was woken up by the officer knocking on the window and was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.

Drunk, passed out in Jeep

A 56-year-old Rocky River man was arrested June 9 for drunk driving after police checked a 7 p.m. June 9 report of a man passed out behind the steering wheel of a Jeep stopped on Laurel Avenue with the engine still running. The man first told police he was picking up his daughter, then said he didn’t know what street he was on. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests.

SHEFFIELD VILLAGE

Nails done, car keys missing

A 19-year-old Avon woman said her car keys were missing and possibly taken while she was in the Yeah Nails salon on Detroit Road at noon June 11. The woman realized they were missing when she went to her car after getting her nails done and didn’t have them. A search for the keys in the business was unsuccessful. A locksmith made new keys for the car.

Arrested for suspended license

A 31-year-old Lorain man was arrested June 12 for driving on a suspended license after police initially stopped his car as he tried to pass another car in the turn lane on Old Colorado Road at 11:09 a.m. Police checked and found the driver’s license was suspended.

WESTLAKE

Hit-skip accident, arrest

An 18-year-old Grafton man was arrested June 8 for hit-skip and failure to maintain an assured clear distance after police checked a 2 p.m. 911 call from a driver on Center Ridge Road who said his car was hit from behind by a red Volkswagen that drove off. Police used license plate information the victim gave them to find the car’s driver in Grafton. Police said the driver told them he was involved in the accident and fled. No injuries were reported.

Sperry Drive thefts

Several trailers were broken into and three catalytic converters were stolen off trucks parked at three Sperry Drive businesses between June 11 and 13. A box truck at Design Surfaces had its catalytic converter stolen overnight June 11 and three trailers were forcibly entered with construction equipment taken from them. Workers were still totaling Monday how much was taken. A landscaping trailer parked at Life Storage had $4,000 worth of landscaping equipment stolen overnight June 13 and a catalytic converter taken. Bay Heating and Cooling had catalytic converters taken off three trucks overnight June 13. None of the businesses’ buildings were entered with the thieves focusing on trailers and vehicles parked outside, police said.

Narcan used after heroin overdose

Police administered Narcan to a A 32-year-old Westlake man found vomiting in the lobby of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at 1:45 p.m. June 11 after he told police he had snorted heroin. The man, who was not a guest at the Crocker Road hotel, told hotel clerks he was overdosing, prompting them to call police. The man was then taken to St. John Medical Center in Westlake, police said. No charges had been filed.

Drunk-driving arrest

A 46-year-old Rocky River man was arrested June 11 for drunk driving after police got a 4 p.m. call from Onstar about an accident on Clague Road, with the other car driving off. A short time later, police found the car had stopped at the intersection of Clague Road and Hilliard Boulevard because of damage from the accident, police said. The driver appeared to be intoxicated and had an empty beer can in his pocket, police said. No injuries were reported.

Drunk Uber passenger arrested

A 47-year-old Avon man was arrested June 14 for disorderly conduct while intoxicated after an Uber driver said a fare had tried to open the car door and get out while on Interstate 90 between the Columbia and Clague roads exits at 2:45 a.m. The passenger told police he did not try to get out. Officers said he appeared intoxicated.
